Nostalgia: ViewMaster Mentalism by Michel Huot
Turn a familiar childhood viewer into the centerpiece of a mind-reading performance. From Michel Huot, creator of Priceless and SOCKS, Nostalgia brings the book-test concept to a ViewMaster in a playful five-minute stand-up routine.
The effect
You show several reels and hand them out for examination. A spectator chooses a reel, inserts it into the ViewMaster, then holds the viewer behind their back to randomly select an image.
They look at the chosen image and keep it in mind. You take a notepad and draw the exact image they are thinking of, turning a nostalgic prop into an unexpected mentalism reveal.
What's included
- 10 reels, including gimmicked reels.
- A ViewMaster viewer.
- A special bag.
- A bonus Princess Card trick on a reel.
- Online instructions.
The routine uses a notepad for the drawing reveal; a notepad is not listed among the included items.
A playful addition to your stand-up show
Bring out the ViewMaster, invite a spectator to explore the reels and build your presentation around the memories the prop inspires. Nostalgia offers a visual alternative to a traditional book test for magicians and mentalists.
Performer feedback
"Bringing back nostalgic classics from the 90s seems to be a huge trend these days. Hollywood classics are being brought back both on television and the big screen. What Michel has done here is both very trendy and deeply nostalgic. Using a prop that reminds us all of our childhood gives it an extremely innocent feel, it is however anything but innocent. A clever method, an entertaining routine and a very engaging presentation from one of the best in the business!"
Spidey, Mentalist
"This on is REALLY fun. Packs small, plays big so clearly effective"
Maxence Vire
"Nostalgia is a funky cool, 80's style mind reading miracle!"
Richard Sanders
"OH WOW. Freaking Fantastic! I'm mad I didn't think of it. I lived inside a Viewmaster my whole childhood. SO, SO good."
Jonathan Friedman
